Alcohol and drug detection with Dräger: Precise screening for more safety

Highlights

In the medical field, a breath alcohol test may be necessary. The Alcotest 7000 med fully complies with the MDR. With this medical device, we support safe use in healthcare facilities. The Alcotest 7000 med has a CE marking as a medical device and is classified as a "Class 1m" device. With the easy-to-use test device, you perform quick and reliable breath alcohol measurements.

Only one calibration per year

Typically alcohol testing devices have to be calibrated every six months. Thanks to its exceptional measurement stability, the Dräger Alcotest® 7000 med only needs calibrating every 12 months. As a result, you only have to collect, send off and then re-issue your alcohol testers once a year. This saves time and, above all, money.

Approval according to the new MDR guideline

The Alcotest 7000 med is approved according to the MDR directive, which has been in force throughout the EU since May 2021. With this guideline, the previous security gaps of the MDD are closed and thus possible risks for users and patients are reduced. The notified body audits the product manufacture and is responsible for approving the devices and complying with ISO 13485. The clinical benefit that has been proven for the Alcotest 7000 med will be qualitatively expanded by ongoing risk management and continuous market surveillance by Dräger.

Particularly easy handling confirmed by application test

With the fulfilment of the new MDR, the Alcotest 7000 med was of course subjected to an extensive usability test (operation test) by medical professionals. The result confirms the particularly simple and safe operation.

Wide temperature range

With the Alcotest 7000 you can take reliable measurements even in extreme temperatures. The alcohol tester's patented heating system and high-quality materials ensure dependable results in temperatures ranging from -10 °C to +55 °C.

High alcohol-detection limits

The increased performance capacity of the Alcotest 7000 med also includes its measurement range. The maximum blood-alcohol limit that can be set with this alcohol testing device is as high as 6 ‰. If this measurement range limit is exceeded, the display will tell you.

The Alcotest Hygiene Plus

Hygiene is an increasingly important part of our everyday lives. Dräger Alcotest breath-alcohol detection devices use non-invasive measuring technologies with a high degree of hygiene – for the user as well as the test subject. Each time the unit is started, the unit and the ambient air are checked for the presence of alcohol in order to exclude the possibility that a measurement result is influenced by e.g. disinfectants. Thanks to the following features:

  • During testing, the exhaled air is directed past rather than through the device
  • There is a 90° angle between the user and the test subject during testing
  • Individually packed disposable mouthpieces (approved for medical use)
  • Benefits of the disposable mouthpieces:
    • safe, hygienic distance between user and test subject
    • spacer prevents direct contact between lips and device
    • mouthpiece is easy to remove
    • the non-return valve prevents inhalation of air through mouthpiece

Innovation born out of tradition

With more than 65 years of experience, Dräger is a market leader in the field of breath-alcohol testing. The Alcotest 7000 med is manufactured in Germany and meets the highest quality standards.
